With the rapid development of world economy, energy problem has become a heated issue confronted by many nations. Many people are worrying that one day all the energy would run out and nothing but waste is left to future generations. Write a composition of about 400 words with the following title, giving your suggestions on the solutions of energy problem.HOW TO SOLVE THE ENERGY PROBLEMIn the first part of your writing you should present your thesis statement, and in the second part you should support the thesis statement with appropriate details. In the last part you should bring what you have written to a natural conclusion or a summary. Marks will be awarded for content, organization, grammar and appropriateness. Failure to follow the above instructions may result in a loss of marks.

HOW TO SOLVE THE ENERGY PROBLEM Energy is one of the biggest problems people are faced with today. Many people are afraid that the amount of our natural resources is very limited, and that if we use it at the present rate, the world is most likely to run out of oil, coal and metals, and to run short of food in the near future. Since this will lead to a serious energy crisis and thus threaten mankind's survival, it is urgent to take effective measures to solve this problem.
The majority of people respond to the problem with a clamor for more severe conservation of our natural resources. It is necessary because much of our energy in the form of oil, coal, iron, gas, electricity, food and the like has been wasted prodigally in the industrial and personal consumption. In some countries, this waste becomes habitual and traditional, to the extent that people are seldom aware of it in their daily life and prone to think of natural resources as inexhaustible. So it is argued that ff all people realize that wastefulness in dealing with these natural resources means that we will leave our descendents a devastated world, and if all people make serious efforts to practice conservation in using energy, the present drain on the limited and irreplaceable resources will certainly slow down.
But conservation alone is not all the answer. Another and perhaps the best way to solve the energy problem is to develop new sources of energy. It is obvious that even if we can save much energy by using it carefully, we probably cannot avoid using up certain natural resources in the future. However abundant the mineral wealth of the country may be, it does not reproduce itself. When the resources are gone, they are gone forever and are bound to be exhausted ultimately. Practicing conservation can only delay the energy crisis, but cannot solve it completely. In the long run, we must try to develop substitutes such as solar energy, nuclear energy and so on. We must find new supplies in unexplored areas such as new kinds of food in the ocean and new kinds of power on other planets.
Human beings are by nature optimistic. Faced with the approach of energy crisis, we certainly should live a new life based on conservation not waste and even practice a rational system ff necessary. But the best solution would be to spend our money and energy on developing new natural resources.

Accenture is mentioned in the opening paragraph______.
    A

to illustrate the world market has been globalized.

    B

to show the worldwide prestige of Accenture.

    C

to compare the globalization of Vietnam, Tashkent and Nigeria.

    D

to exemplify the backwardness of Tashkent.

Internet has become not only a way of convenient communication, but also a way to make fame. There have been several examples of coming to instant fame with the help of internet, such as Mu Zimei in Guangdong Province and Belle Lotus (Furong Jiejie) in Beijing. What is the difference between the cyber fame and traditional fame, and what is the right attitude toward the trend of seeking fame on the net? Write an article of about 400 words on the following topic:Cyber Fame VS. Traditional FameIn the first part of your writing you should present your thesis statement, and in the second part you should support the thesis statement with appropriate details. In the last part you should bring what you have written to a natural conclusion or a summary. Marks will be awarded for content, organization, grammar and appropriateness. Failure to follow the above instructions may result in a loss of marks.

Cyber Fame VS. Traditional Fame Do you surf on the internet? If yes, do you know who Mu Zimei is, and who Belle Lotus is? Both of them are very famous on Internet, and their fame comes almost overnight. Nowadays many people are attracted by this instant fame, and are planning to abandon the traditional road to fame because that may spend too much time. But it must be realized that these two kinds of fame are very different.
To begin with, traditional fame and cyber fame are built on different bases. As we know, traditional fame comes from ability and achievement. In the past, time and practice could help check the quality of one's achievement, and only those who passed the check could become famous. Einstein, for example, became famous years after he put forward his theories of relativity. The cyber fame, on the other hand, is mainly built on novelty and strangeness. Nowadays, so long as you can do something very strange, you will probably become famous. Miss Mu became famous because she published her diary about her affair with different men, and Belle Lotus did so by declaring her strong admiration about herself. Both of them behave very abnormally, according to a sociologist, and it is mainly this quality that makes them Famous.
From different bases come different reactions. Because traditional fame rests upon a solid foundation, it usually harvests respect and admiration from the public. However, as cyber fame rests upon strange behaviors, it wins its owner only curiosity, or even contempt. A recent survey among net users conducted by a website shows that more than 80 per cent people respect traditional famous scientists and artists, and only about 5 per cent say that they admire those net-famous figures. The survey also shows that more than 75 per cent think that people like Mu Zimei are not worth so much attention.
Most important of all, these two kinds of fame will see different future. Traditional fame lasts, but cyber fame will be transient. According to Dr. Li from the China's Academy of Social Sciences, only values that go in agreement with the social ethics can be accepted, passed, and thus can exist for a long time. He points out traditional fame can last because it advocates the correct ethics, and cyber fame cannot possibly last because it is against the widespread social moral values. What he says is true. Internet is a place of easy come, easy go. If the fame comes quickly, usually it will also go quickly. Probably two years later, nobody will remember who Mu Zimei is.
From the above discussion, we can tell that traditional fame and cyber fame are different in their basis, social reactions, and the future. When we know the difference, it is clear that we students should seek traditional fame instead of cyber fame. Internet may be a convenient way of communication, but obviously it is not a convenient way to make fame, in the best sense.

M: Hello. Juliet. I know you are one of the few women taxi drivers in the city now, and you drive for a living. What made you want to become a taxi driver in the first place?
W: I took pride in driving well even when I was young, for I had to wait until I had a car to learn to drive. When I finally learned, it was something I really enjoyed and still enjoy. I remembered how smart those taxi drivers had seemed driving so well, and dressed so neatly in their uniforms and I thought I’d like to do that myself.
M: You really enjoy driving, I see. And how long have you been a taxi driver?
W: Er, all together 12 years.
M: Mm, for quite some time already, hasn’t it?
    W: Yeah.
M: Then, what did you find the most difficult about becoming a taxi driver?
W: I can still remember when I was first learning to drive—it was scary, didn’t know yet how to judge distance, and when a big truck came near it seemed like its wheels would just come right over me. Anyway, soon I learned to judge distance. I began looking ahead, stopped worrying about trucks and about what was moving on either side.
M: In your opinion, what does it take to become a good driver?
W: Eh, besides driving well, the most important thing a taxi driver needs to know is the streets, and I knew the city well because I had lived in it for a long time. I knew all the main streets, and even the side streets. And of course you have to keep updating your knowledge of the streets, because the city changes. There might be a new road appearing somewhere one day.
M: Now, what about annual leaves? Do you have them?
W: Oh, yes. When I first started, I had only ten days. Now, I have three weeks every year, with pay.
M: Just out of curiosity. When you go on vacation to another place or city, do you drive there as well?
W: In most cases, not. I prefer to be driven by others, if we go by car. I would also prefer to go by train or plane, if there is a choice. I have already had too much driving in my life. So, when on holiday, I just want to relax.
M: I see. Let’s come back to your work. Are there any unpleasant aspects in your job?
W: The only serious difficulty in this work is that it’s sometimes dangerous to drive at night. But you have a choice, and I always choose to work days rather than nights.
M: Then, what is the best part of your job?
W: I soon found that what I liked best about this job was being outdoors, seeing how the city changes from season to season. And there are places I’ve seen that I probably never would have seen in another job, and I love all kinds of weather. I like to leave the window down in a fine rain. And. and when I have a long drive near the end of the day, I sometimes go past my home to tell my two little children I’ll be home soon, and they always want to come along in my car.
M: Oh, do they? I guess all kids like to be taken for a ride sometimes.
W: Yeah, But you cannot take anyone along unless they pay or you pay for them. So I’ll have to pay their fares one of these days and take them out in my taxi, because they really think it’s fun. Out in the countryside on a long drive, with the air fresh and the sun shining, you just seem to want to drive forever. At least, that’s how it is for me.
M: Being a taxi driver, you have to meet all kinds of people. How do you feel about that?
W: I enjoy meeting many different people. I might not have met some if not for this job, and I’ve learned a lot about how people behave in these years.
M: Can you tell us a bit more about it?
W: The biggest advantage is that you come across various characters in your work. Some people are interesting, some rushed, some pleasant, some funny, some talkative. Some are so pressed for time that they change clothes in the taxi. Those who are in the greatest rush would sometimes forget to pay.
M: Have you ever met someone who doesn’t like women drivers?
W: Yes. Once a passenger really objected to having a woman driver, and I laughed at him so much that he stopped his fussing. Although there has been one or two cases like this, I still think most people are nice to women drivers. So, this is really an interesting part of my work.
M: Now, my last question. Have you ever thought of changing your job?
W: Not yet. I might, in a few years’ time. But not at this moment, because I really enjoy my work, and I do get a lot of satisfaction out of it. So, why should I?
M: Ok. Our interview is coming to the end. I’d like to wind up our interview by wishing you good luck. Thank you very much for your time, Juliet.
    W: Pleasure.
    1. Why did Juliet become a taxi driver?
    2. According to Juliet, what was the most difficult about becoming a taxi driver?
    3. What does Juliet like best about her job?
    4. What is the character of Juliet as a mother according to the interview?
    5. What can we learn about the people Juliet meets?

More and more students are renting flats to live away from campus, and some of them are student lovers. Some students think this is unacceptable, but others find it attractive. What is your opinion on student lovers living together? Write an article of about 400 words to express your opinion. You should supply a title for your article. In the first part of your writing you should present your thesis statement, and in the second part you should support the thesis statement with appropriate details. In the last part you should bring what you have written to a natural conclusion or a summary. Marks will be awarded for content, organization, grammar and appropriateness. Failure to follow the above instructions may result in a loss of marks.

On Student Lovers' Living Together According to official statistics, the number of college student lovers living together off campus in Beijing has increased by four times between 1997 and 2001. This is undeniably true of many other places in China. Although many students do not strongly object to it, I don't think it is advisable for college student lovers to live together away from campus.
Some lovers say that living together can help them study better, for it can help them get rid of the interference of other students. This is actually not true. When living away from campus, the lovers will always think of each other rather than the teachers' assignment, and other unavoidable family chores such as looking and washing will also take much time away that might have been spent on study. Besides, many courses now require group work or cooperation. If they stay away from other classmates, how can they study these courses well?
Some lovers say that living together can relieve their loneliness and pressure, but it is not really the best choice. On the one hand, the real reason for their loneliness is that they are not focusing their mind on study. Study, the most important task for university students, can prove to be fascinating if you really focus on it. On the other hand, even if their loneliness is real, there are many better ways to deal with it. For instance, they can find friends to take part in sports or other entertaining activities. By staying away from other classmates, living together can be a source of rather than solution to loneliness.
Other lovers argue that they mean to get married after graduation, and this experience can help them test each other to see if they are suitable for married life. But this mentality does not hold water. The two lovers may really love each other, but living together can actually spoil a good relationship, because it enters into weakness rather than strength, doubt rather than conviction. A follow-up study shows that few couples living together really end in marriage.
In a word, those student lovers cannot find enough reasons to justify their choice. What they can offer all represent self-deception or misconception. Although universities are not allowed to forbid students to live off campus, they can still find more effective ways to convince this lost group of the disadvantages, and improve teaching and after-class activities to attract them back to campus.
Is it correct for student lovers to live together away from campus,属于观点态度题的范畴。
